Description

The structure of this local made painted beehive, consists of several key components:

1. Beehive Entrance: Bees enter and exit the hive through a small opening. The work bees will guarded the entrance to protect the colony from intruders.
2. Brood Chamber: This is where the queen bee lays her eggs and where the larvae develop. It sit on top of the bottom of the hive. Bee will keep warmer temperature inside.
3. Honey Super: Above the brood chamber, there are usually one or more boxes called honey supers. This is where bees store excess honey. The honey supers may contain frames with removable combs for easier honey extraction by beekeepers.
4. Frames and foundation: We assembled wax foundation sheets inside wired timber frames. These foundations are where the bees store honey, pollen, and raise their brood. Frames allow beekeepers to easily inspect the hive and manage the colony.
5. Queen Excluder: The gaps of metal queen excluder allow worker bees to pass through. But the larger queen bee and drone can’t go through. Place it between the brood chamber and honey supers to prevent the queen from laying eggs in the honey supers.
6. Beehive Cover: The hive cover, typically made of wood and metal, covers the entire hive to protect it from the elements.

The exact structure and materials used can vary depending on the type of beehive (e.g., Langstroth, Top Bar, Warre) and whether it is natural or customized. We designed the beehives to provide a suitable environment for bees to thrive, store food reserves, and reproduce.

This local made and painted beehive with Frames Include one Lid, two FD boxes, FD Frames with wax foundation, one Painted Base and one Galvanized Queen Excluder. Everything are assembled. The hive boxes, lid and base are Wax dipped and Painted. The bee wax foundation sheets are made in Victoria.
