Wiring a beehive frame is a common task in beekeeping to help bees build their comb in a straight and orderly manner. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to wire a hive frame:
What is wired frame?
A wired frame is a single piece of stainless steel wire is nailed to the frame on one end. Beekeepers usually use this frame to prevent comb from sagging. Frame with wire gives it strength and better support for wax foundation.
This article shows you how to wire a beehive frame by yourself.
1. Use eyelets tool to push brass eyelets to the side bars of the timber frame.

2. Apply PVA glue on the connection between the side bars and the top bar, install the top bar, and tap it with a rubber hammer. Then fix it with U-staples.

3. Flip the hive frame, apply PVA glue to the joint where the side bars meet the bottom bar, attach the bottom bar, gently tap it with a rubber mallet, and secure it with U-staples.

4. Place the nailed frame onto the wiring board, then gently use the push rod to deform the sidebar slightly. Thread the stainless steel wire through the holes in the sidebars. Wind the wire ends around the small nails, and use a hammer to drive the nails into the sidebar for securement, then snap the wire. Ensure the wire is tight and firmly secured, as any sagging could impact the bees’ ability to build combs.
5. Remove the frame, and then secure the U-staples to the joint sides of the side bar and the top bar.
Nail the joint.
Such a qualified hive frame is ready.
